Reporting directly to the Nurse Manager the IVF Coordinator assists physicians with patient care, health education/promotion, electronic medical record (EMR) chart management, coordination of patient care, and clinical protocols as needed. This experienced IVF Coordinator's duties will include, but are not limited to, medication/immunization administration, point of care testing (POCT), clinical information abstraction, and patient education that can be done in person, via our patient portal, or by phone. The IVF Coordinator will work closely with multiple providers as well as other clinical and administrative staff to deliver an excellent patient experience that contributes to positive health outcomes for patients and a work culture that represents our values. This nursing position will serve as a key member of the patient care team. The IVF Coordinator will participate in or lead health initiatives within the department/unit to address healthcare gaps and promote positive health outcomes for patients. Requirements
Responsibilities
- Direct patient interaction and coordination of infertility testing and treatment plans, including IVF and IUI cycles, between patients and physicians as needed.
- Telephone triage patient calls regarding medications, treatment plans, test results, and procedural instructions.
- Maintain patient charting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Provide patient education and counseling on treatment protocols, medications, and infertility procedures as needed.
- Review and manage communications from internal and external “customers” inclusive of in basket messages, updating immunizations, and updating health maintenance items.
- Ensure infection control compliance within the practice.
- Addresses appropriate measures to provide patient and family satisfaction.
- Responsible for accurate and timely communication of physician orders, instructions, and lab results to patients.
- Transcribe and transmit prescriptions per physician’s instruction and process prior authorizations as needed.
- This position will have primary responsibility for the recovery room/PACU for office-based procedures, such as egg retrievals, office hysteroscopy, dilation and curettage, embryo transfer, and other office-based procedures, as necessary.
- Convey pre-operative and post-operative instructions for all surgical procedures.
- Monitor inventory of all necessary supplies and equipment for the recovery room.
- Maintain quality assurance logs.
- Communicate with all staff, clinical and administrative, to provide the highest level of quality patient care.
- Adhere to organizational and department-specific safety standards and guidelines.
- Participate in the recruitment of clinical staff
- Precept clinical staff (medical assistants, licensed practical nurses, and RNs and perform competency testing for new and established clinical staff.
- Serve as a mentor and resource to others.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.
- This position will also be responsible for rotating weekend/holiday coverage as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent in education and experience, plus 4 years or more of related experience. Clinical rotation experience associated with BSN degree programs will be applied toward related experience requirements.
- Current New York State RN License BLS Certification.
- Ability to work indoors in an environmentally-controlled environment with a degree of dust, noise, odors, etc., without undue discomfort.
- Ability to perform sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing for long periods of time Travel between clinical sites may be required depending on need.
- Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, bodily fluid, and tissue. Incumbent in expected to perform and/or/assist in emergency care and/or first aid as needed.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Infertility experience and BCLS certification.
